Top Water Slides In South Florida

With school ending for summer break, the kids will be looking for something to fill their long, hot days. If they aren't off to summer camp for the day, they'll need somewhere to go that can keep them occupied and safe, and if it's the weekend, entertaining the kids has to be enjoyable for the parents as well. The obvious answer is a good water park with the kind of thrilling, twisting and turning slide that will keep them excited all day. For the best, biggest and most electrifying water slides in South Florida, here's where to go.

Not for the weak-of-heart, the Brain Drain is an all-new slide that just opened for 2016. Brain Drain is made up of five separate enclosed flume waterslides, all enclosed and featuring stomach-dropping 70-foot plunges. The route of each slide is different, so of course the kids will want to try all five at least once. This is one for the biggest adrenaline junkies, who start out by standing in an enclosed capsule on top of a trap door which opens, dropping them into the descent. If the slides don't keep the kids entertained all day, there are plenty of thrill rides here to keep them going for hours.

Let's get back to basics. Yes, the huge drops, winding spirals and anti-gravity slides are fun, but they are certainly not for everyone. And there's nothing wrong with a good, classic water slide that winds around a few times before dropping it's riders into the pool without hitting chilling speeds. That's exactly what Paradise Cove gives you. The park features four five-story body slides, which spiral numerous times before spilling sliders out at the bottom. Bring the whole family here, as there are also places for children five and under to play, a slow-moving lazy river tube ride and a pool with all sorts of fun water features.

Want a low-key day on the water? City Park Caporella is where the whole family can swim together, picnic together and even work out together. The huge 25-yard by 25-meter pool features two tornado slides, simple enough to be fun for kids of any age. After the kids take a few rounds with the slides, gather them up again for a picnic lunch and in the afternoon you can even take an Aqua Zumba class. The crowds here aren't overwhelming and the prices aren't crazy, making a visit a lovely and easy way to spend the day.

Pirates Plunge

Three immense slides fill the scenery at Grapeland Water Park, and that is of course where the kids (and maybe some of the adults) will head as soon as they arrive. They will climb to the top and be swept down to the bottom in one of the pulse-pounding rides. If the younger kids aren't quite up for the big stuff yet, not to worry. They can still have their fun on the low-rise slides and work their way up, while being drenched with the water cannons in Black Beard's Springs.

The kids can have a full day of fun here for only $6 each, making this a favorite for them and parents both. There are two playgrounds for older and younger kids, so they can bring along their little brother or sister, and each features appropriate slide options of course. For the older kids, there is a spiral slide and two turning slides for a variety of thrills and chills. After they take their turns down the slides, they can even host a mini-battle with the available water guns. Pack them some cash and some food (and of course some sunscreen) and send them off to the park for a full day of water-filled fun.
