Many people are not aware that Zoo Miami, formerly Miami Metrozoo, is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida along with being the only tropical zoo in all of the nation. Plan to spend an entire day because there are over 3,000 animals, 100 exhibits and over 324 acres of plants, animals and habitat to explore. The zoo is divided into sections which include African exhibits, Australian exhibits, Dr. Wilde's World of Discovery, Cloud Forest and even a Children's Zoo with theater. Besides being able to see traditional animals such as the lions, tigers and monkeys, a set of unique and exotic animals and reptiles will catch your attention. Zoo Miami gives families the ability to buy a 2016 Summer Savings Pass which is good until September 30, 2016 and allows entry into four South Florida attractions: Zoo Miami, Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach County, Miami Seaquarium and the Museum of Science & Discovery. The ticket is $31 for adults and $21 for children.

HistoryMiami is the perfect end of summer activity to get the kids excited about school. This history museum all about Florida and founded in 1940, is the largest of its kind in the entire state of Florida. HistoryMiami is also a Smithsonian affiliate. Learn all about the place in which you live, work and play. Every month there is a family fun day. On July 16, 2016, the museum will celebrate family fun day with the opening of their newest exhibition, "Beyond the Game: Sports and the Evolution of South Florida." There will be plenty of games and activities available for all to take part in. The museum includes both permanent and traveling exhibitions to keep your visit fresh and exciting and desiring to come back for more.
