Maybe everyone knows about Black Friday in Miami, but there’s another fun day of celebration the week of Thanksgiving – Black Wednesday. Black Wednesday falls on the night before Thanksgiving. This is when holiday revelers can enjoy adult beverages to unwind the night before the festivities. These bars around the city are ideal spots to speak with interesting people, play bar games and indulge in a little bar food fare to transition into the holiday.

Brickell Irish Gastropub
1451 S. Miami Ave.
Miami, FL 33130
(305) 381-6651

This great Irish pub in the Brickell area of Miami features a warm and friendly atmosphere – it’s a great place to socialize and completely unwind. The kitchen is open even until late night but it probably isn’t the best idea to eat too much the night before Thanksgiving. The pub has a full bar as well as special craft beer cocktails for an interesting treat. Entertainment comes in the form of HD TVs, an extra-large projector screen, darts, pool tables and more.

The Bar
172 Giralda Ave.
Coral Gables, FL 33134
(305) 442-2730

Coral Gables’ The Bar is a cleaner and more elegant version of a dive bar. Enjoy a great selection of draft and bottled beer as well as wine. There is a great bar food menu available and daily food specials – perfect accompaniments to having a few cold ones. The bar closes at 3 a.m. which is a great way to be sure to get enough sleep for Thanksgiving preparation the next day.

Lush South Beach
233 12th St.
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 801-8301
www.facebook.com/lushsobe

Lush South Beach may not look like much, but this dive bar is one of the most fun bars in town. Located just around the corner from a few other great spots, Lush is a no-frills spot for strong and inexpensive drinks and some very interesting people watching. The bartenders are friendly and accommodating and though the bar itself is small, there are several cocktail tables inside as well. Those looking for more entertainment can enjoy the pool table, punching bag machine and arcade video games.

Ted’s Hideaway
124 2nd St.
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 532-9869

Ted’s Hideaway is another dive option on South Beach but with a completely different vibe. Ted’s is quite a large bar located in the South of Fifth neighborhood where no one ever knows who they will see or what will happen. The crowd is a huge mix from random oddball characters and college students to regulars on the South Beach party scene to snowbird tourists. There’s a great drink selection on offer as well as billiards and a modern juke box. The friendly bartenders are one of the best things about Ted’s Hideaway.

Monty’s Raw Bar
2550 S. Bayshore Drive
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
(305) 856-3992
www.facebook.com/Montys

Monty’s Raw Bar is part of a wonderful, popular venue that also features a seafood restaurant. This is the place for fun antics, a full bar and raw bar fare. Monty’s Raw Bar is a long-running establishment with an impressive waterfront location and great live entertainment such as calypso in a setting of lively tropical décor. Monty’s is a good spot to go in groups (it’s a great place to show visiting family) or solo as there are always interesting guests or staff to speak with all night long.
