THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Susan. Welcome to Defend Your Ride Miami. Tell us about your ride. Why did you pick an Audi?

A: The last car we had was a BMW, but it floods here a lot, especially in our neighborhood. We went through a puddle. The car got totaled going through a puddle! The water got into the engine and the insurance company said it was totaled. We wanted a car with high clearance. This has high enough clearance. You can go through puddles. There were a couple of cars in the contention, but this one won because it's not so big. I didn't want a huge SUV.

Q: What neighborhood do you live in?

A: Miami Beach.

Q: Where did you buy the car?

A: Prestige Imports. We want though Costco. They have Costco pricing. You go online and they tell you what price they pay for it, the absolutely cheapest price they will give it to you for. They negotiate a pretty fair price, more towards what they pay for it. And there's no haggling. They made it easy.

Q: Do you have a nickname for your car?

A: No. We don't really fall in love with our cars, we just drive them.

Q: Do you keep your cars for a long time?

A: We have our minivan that we own, and we're going to keep it until it dies, or we go through a puddle, or something. This one is leased, so it will be for three years.

Q: Do you have any rules in the car?

A: No rules. Orr cars get trashed. No rules, only fun.

Q: What is the farthest you have driven in it?

A: We drove up North Carolina over the summer. We went to Blowing Rock and rented a house there.

Q: How did you keep the kids busy?

A: It was rough. The end, coming home, the last six hours were brutal. But, we had fun. We stopped a lot.

Q: What do you usually use your car for?

A: Just getting from one place to another. We use it to get to work, to go to school. We drive a lot!
