Bells will sound all across South Florida Monday morning, ringing in the start of a new school year and, if you happened to be listening to the radio Wednesday morning, you may have heard Broward Sheriff Scott Israel talking about school safety.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel held a special briefing with members of his command staff Tuesday to discuss the security situation in the county in the wake of the Boston bombings.
The Broward Sheriff’s office, with help from Broward Crime Stoppers and the City of Pompano Beach, collected 124 guns Saturday at its first gun buyback event.
On Friday, city and county leaders in Broward and Miami-Dade joined Sheriff Israel and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz at Broward Sheriff’s Office to discuss gun control.
The swearing-in ceremony for Sheriff-elect Scott Israel will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at The Faith Center in Sunrise. He will be sworn in by Broward County Circuit Judge Ilona Holmes.
