Miami-Dade Police Director
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) officially has a new police director.
In his first extended interview since becoming Miami-Dade County’s Police Director, J.D. Patterson said he understands the damage that violence can do to a community as well as individual families.
CBS4 News has learned that J.D. Patterson Jr. has been selected to lead the Miami Dade Police Department. The formal announcement will be made Friday morning during a County Hall press conference by Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
County Mayor Carlos Gimenez has narrowed the candidates for the next director of the Miami-Dade Police Department down to six.
Miami-Dade Police Department director James Loftus spent part of his final day on the job honoring Miami-Dade firefighters who saved one of his officers’ lives. It was a fitting end to a nearly 30 year career with MDPD.
For the first time in its 177 year history, the Miami Dade Police Department will begin laying off sworn officers on November 1.
Miami-Dade Police Director James Loftus took time Wednesday to honor those who quietly serve the community without recognition; the medical staff at the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
