Drivers in Miami-Dade County can save money on MDX tolls through the new MDX customer loyalty program which launched on Monday, July 13th.
Monday marks one month since the new Miami-Dade Expressway tolls were put into place, a day which a group of protesters mark as, “Tollmageddon.”
MDX has just completed its conversion to open road tolling in South Florida. Among other things, that triggers a hike in the tolls drivers will be paying on the Dolphin & Airport Expressways.
The toll increases are controversial. Jim talks to Javier Rodriguez who is the executive director for MDX, and Carlos Garcia of rollbacktolls.com, who is the head of the anti-toll group.
The free ride is about to end on the 836. More than a dozen Sunpass toll points have been installed up and down the expressway. It means anyone driving on the 836 is going to pay, and for some they’ll be paying double. This CBS4 investigation looks into the tolls, who will be impacted and where all that money, nearly a billion dollars is going.
Come Sunday night, cash will no longer be accepted at the Dolphin Expressway toll booth.
