State Senator Files Bill To Limit Ballot Length

In a move to avoid another ballot debacle like we saw in 2012 when an overly long ballot bogged down the voting and tabulation process, a Democratic state senator wants to limit how many ballot questions lawmakers can pose.

Voters Reject Most Florida Amendments

Much of the lengthy ballot in Florida was due to multiple state constitutional amendments that each required at least 60 percent support from voters to become law. The high threshold makes it nearly impossible for most initiatives to pass.

Understanding The Florida Amendments

The 2012 ballot will be one to remember across the state of Florida. The ballot is the longest in Miami-Dade history and much of the ballot is taken up with 11 constitutional amendments written in legalese that can confuse even the most well-informed voters.
