There will be a major change to State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway this weekend.
Some drivers on the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) may have to change their commute a bit Wednesday night.
There will be a major change to the Dolphin Expressway this week. Here’s what you need to know.
MDX has just completed its conversion to open road tolling in South Florida. Among other things, that triggers a hike in the tolls drivers will be paying on the Dolphin & Airport Expressways.
The toll increases are controversial. Jim talks to Javier Rodriguez who is the executive director for MDX, and Carlos Garcia of rollbacktolls.com, who is the head of the anti-toll group.
Westbound SR 836 will be completely closed between I-95 and NW 27th Avenue/Unity Boulevard for toll equipment testing Sunday, November 16 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers on the Dolphin Expressway will see significant lane closures Saturday night.
The free ride is about to end on the 836. More than a dozen Sunpass toll points have been installed up and down the expressway. It means anyone driving on the 836 is going to pay, and for some they’ll be paying double. This CBS4 investigation looks into the tolls, who will be impacted and where all that money, nearly a billion dollars is going.
Alternate lanes on westbound and eastbound State Road 112 between NW 42nd Avenue and NW 12th Avenue will be closed Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and then 9 p.m. until 5:30am each day.
Throughout South Florida, drivers and those who use public transportation may be affected by some major closures this weekend.
Traffic changes will take place for drivers beginning Monday morning. To prepare for those change, some closures will take place through the weekend.
