An internal affairs probe of the Miami Beach Police force launched after one of their officers crashed his ATV into two people on the beach reportedly found a number of problems including a breakdown in command and gross negligence by some officers over the July 4th holiday weekend.
Two Miami Beach police officers involved in an ATV accident that left two people injured over the Fourth of July weekend were terminated Friday, the department said.
Vowing to take “swift and firm action,” Miami Beach Police Chief said his department has begun termination proceedings against two officers – one of whom was involved in a reported joyride on a department ATV on the beach – which caused two people to be injured over the weekend.
A five year veteran of the Miami Beach police department has been accused of taking a department all-terrain vehicle on a high speed joyride on the beach with a female passenger and accidentally running into two people.
