MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins coaching staff will have a very familiar face next season.

Former Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez is being brought back to be the team's third base coach.

He replaces Lenny Harris, who was let go shortly after the season along with hitting coach Barry Bonds.

He'll work under Miami manager Don Mattingly, who just finished his first season with the Marlins.

Gonzalez was the Marlins manager from 2007 to 2010 before being fired by owner Jeffrey Loria.

For the past six years Gonzalez has managed the Atlanta Braves.  He was let go after the team started the 2016 season 9-28.

The last two times Miami had a winning record, 2008 and 2009, the team was managed by Gonzalez.

The Marlins also announced that former University of Miami and MLB third baseman Mike Pagliarulo had been hired to replace Bonds as the team's hitting coach.

Pagliarulo and Mattingly were teammates with the New York Yankees from 1984 to 1989.

Pagliarulo had been serving as hitting coach in the Pittsburgh Pirates' system at the Triple-A level before being hired by Miami.
