MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A man taken into custody Monday evening after a police involved shooting near the Dadeland Mall is expected in bond court on Tuesday.

Raziel Binelo, 20, is charge with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing police, resisting arrest without violence and driving on a suspended license.

The Halloween scare happened at around 7:15 p.m. after two officers spotted a four-door Cadillac near 82nd Avenue and Bird Road. A routine records check turned up that the tag had been stolen, according to police.

When officers tried to pull the car over, the driver refused to stop and the chase was on.

The officers chased the vehicle into the parking lot of an apartment complex at SW 83rd Street and SW 72nd Avenue.

"Once the vehicle pulled in to that parking spot, it reached a dead end.  Officers got out of the vehicle, attempted to approach it.  That's when the suspect, at that poin,t put the vehicle in reverse and attempted to try to get away, striking two other vehicles that were parked," said police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.

Two officers fired on Binelo as he sped out of the parking and headed westbound on SW 84th Street.

The chase came to an end at SW 72nd Court when Binelo bailed out of the vehicle and tried to run away on foot. He was quickly taken into custody.

During questioning Binelo admitted to running from police because he knew he was driving on a suspended license, according to his arrest report.
