Jose Fernandez At American Social Bar & Kitchen Before Fatal Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As the baseball world continues to mourn the loss of Miami Marlins ace pitcher Jose Fernandez, CBS4 News has confirmed Fernandez was at a popular Miami waterfront party spot about an hour and a half before the deadly boat crash.
CBS4's Ted Scouten reached out to American Social Bar and Kitchen for a comment and management replied with the following statement: "Jose Fernandez was a guest at American Social. We would like to extend our sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the families and friends who share in the loss of the three victims involved in this tragic boating accident and to the Miami Marlins organization."
American Social provides a dock for boaters and it's located near the crash scene.
Jose Fernandez and two friends, Emilio Macias and Eduardo Rivero, were killed when their 32-foot boat crashed into a jetty off Miami Beach.
Officials said Sunday it didn't appear alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Autopsies on all three men are complete but results, along with toxicology, have not been released.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating.
