MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An accident in Miami led police to discover a 2-month-old baby in the car and two adults unconscious.

The City of Miami Police Department tweeted out a photo of one of their officers holding the baby, wearing tiny pink socks.

The caption reads, “Miami PD responded to accident at NW 12th Avenue and 20th street. 2 month old baby found 2/ parents unconscious poss. OD on heroin.”

Police have not confirmed the use of heroin at this point. Both adults were hospitalized.

The baby was taken to a fire station near the accident scene and was handed over to the Department of Children and Families. The baby will remain in DCF’s custody until a hearing on Tuesday.

This comes about a week after an Ohio police department published a graphic photo of a couple overdosing on heroin with a 4-year-boy in the backseat.

The police department made the photos public in an effort to highlight the harsh reality of the drug.

Rhonda Pasek, 50, and James Acord, 47, were charged with endangering children.
