FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) — Neighbors watched on, stunned as the mother of a 3-year old girl wailed in pain – her little girl run over in their home's driveway.

Three-year-old Mirouche Camilus did not survive.

Fort Lauderdale Police said a family friend was pulling out in his 2000 white Chevy Silverado when the truck hit the girl head-on.

"I feel so bad for her mother. I'm just so shocked, so sad that this 3-year old had to die like this. I didn't even want go closer to the house because there was too much screaming going on," said neighbor Tina Johnson.

After police investigated and fire rescue cleaned the scene, CBS4's Donna Rapado spoke to the man who hit the little girl accidentally.

Purleson Despinass returned to the home. Despinass is not related by blood but said it is one big close church family that live at the home located at 2317 NW 14th Court. They look after each other. The girl's mother is the church pastor.

Despinass said he told 3-year old Mirouche to stay inside – not seeing or hearing her in front of his truck. Suddenly, he felt the bump. The weight of it all now is too much to bear for him.

"For me I don't think I can, I'm, I'm telling you I don't think I can for long. (inaudible)  I'm not lying, I don't think I'm gonna live for long.  I feel, I feel...I don't know," Purlison told Rapado, clearly distraught.   "I don't what to say.

Fort Lauderdale Police continue to investigate.
