Three Cubans Plead Guilty In Credit Card Skimming Scam

NEW ORLEANS (CBSMiami/AP) — Three Cubans who had been living in Florida have pleaded guilty in a plot to put card skimming devices on gas pumps in the New Orleans area.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite says Juliet Estrada Perez, Luis Rivera Garcia, and Jesus Enrique Gonzales Torres pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit access device fraud.

Court records show the conspiracy took place in July 2015.

Polite says they were arrested in Florida on bond violations after the Coast Guard picked them up in the Florida Strait in April.

Aggravated identity theft conviction requires two years in prison after any other sentence. Conspiracy carries up to five years.

Polite says two of three other defendants pleaded guilty earlier.
