Queen Not Happy Trump Uses "We Are The Champions" At RNC

CLEVELAND (CBSMiami) -- After Donald Trump walked on stage at the Republican National Convention to Queen's classic rock anthem "We are the Champions," the band expressed their displeasure at the GOP nominee defying their wishes again.
Trump came out to the song at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena like a rock star to a cheering crowd, complete with atmospheric lightning and set against a giant screen.
"We're gonna win. We're gonna win so big," said Trump at the podium, echoing the song's triumphant lyrics that demand to "keep on fighting 'til the end" and offers "no time for losers."
On Tuesday, the legendary British rock group tweeted that the campaign did not have their permission.

Adam Lambert, the band's new lead singer, gave a more direct reasoning for his dissatisfaction. Lambert, like Queen's original singer Freddie Mercury, came out as a gay man after finding success in the music business.

It isn't the first time the Trump campaign has used "We are the Champions."
"My personal reaction to Donald Trump using our music … We'd never give permission," said guitarist Brian May on his website in June. "I've had an avalanche of complaints – some of which you can see in our 'LETTERS' page – about Donald Trump using our We Are The Champions track as his 'theme' song on USA TV. This is not an official Queen statement, but I can confirm that permission to use the track was neither sought nor given. We are taking advice on what steps we can take to ensure this use does not continue. Regardless of our views on Mr Trump's platform, it has always been against our policy to allow Queen music to be used as a political campaigning tool. Our music embodies our own dreams and beliefs, but it is for all who care to listen and enjoy."
