Stranger With Metal Detector Helps Woman 'Restore Faith In Humanity'

BOCA RATON – Craigslist helped reunite a South Florida man with his wedding ring which he lost three thousand miles away.
Joanna Horowitz, from Boca Raton, posted a picture of the ring on her Facebook page and shared her story by starting "It's a story that will restore your faith in humanity."
It all started about a week ago. Joanna and her husband were on a beach in Southern California. It was the final day of their vacation. While applying sunscreen to their 5-year-old child, the ring simply slipped off and disappeared.
"I was of course really devastated," Joanna told CBSMiami.com. "When I bought it, I was an elementary art teacher in Miami and had saved up to purchase it. I had it engraved and the ring was sentimental for so many reasons! It was the end of the day and we were leaving California the next morning and I felt helpless; like there was no chance I could return to the beach and try to look for it. And, being he lost it in a heavily populated area, I was certain someone picked it up."
Joanna, who has been married for seven years, was willing to try just about anything to get the ring back.
She posted on Facebook, "Out of desperation, I went on Craigslist LA to 'lost and found' and found a guy who advertises his metal detecting services. Using my memory, photos, google earth and his metal detector, he found his ring less than 12 hour later, buried deep in the grass of Venice Beach."
The ring is currently being mailed back to Joanna and her husband.
Joanna plans on giving him a reward in addition to reimbursing him for the shipping of the ring.
She wrote, "It truly is a miracle that I found this honest man and that he found Chad's ring!"
