KEY BISCAYNE (CBSMiami) -- More than 250 Liberty City students are being given free school supplies, uniforms and shoes to give them a head start on the upcoming school year in the fall.

The Village of Key Biscayne has teamed up with Miami Children's Initiative and the Chief Press Charitable to bring the kids their 4th annual back-to-school "Christmas in July."

It took place at Village Beach Park at Ocean Drive and East Enid Drive Saturday morning, July 9th.

"Without this event, many of these students would not have the proper school supplies," said Key Biscayne Community Foundation Executive Director Melissa McCaughan White. "It is so fulfilling to see their smiling faces receive items that we take for granted every day. That is why we take them out of Liberty City for the day and give them the right tools for school."

Along with the school supplies, the children also got to enjoy the natural beach at the park, as well as water-slides, games, food and music.
