WILTON MANORS (CBSMiami) -- Broward deputies are searching for a driver who slammed into an already injured man - killing him two days before his birthday.

Detectives say the driver was near 2700 NE 6th Avenue in Wilton Manors when the car slammed into Raymond King as he lay on the roadway in a pool of blood around 3 a.m. on Friday.

The impact of the hit threw King about 37 feet away - onto the grass on the side of the street.  Deputies say it looks like the vehicle was traveling about 30 miles per hour.

Detectives say blood evidence suggests that King had walked near the sidewalk long the East side of 6th Avenue and came to rest in the middle of the northbound lane. It is unclear how King had become injured.

Meantime, deputies are searching for the driver who sped off.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward County Crimestoppers at (954) 493- TIPS.
