New Koala Makes Debut At Zoo Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — A new face is set to make his debut at Zoo Miami.

A five year old male koala named Milo will be officially introduced on Tuesday. Milo arrived at the zoo May 3 from the San Diego Zoo. He has been in quarantine while getting accustomed to his new home.

Milo is a Queensland koala and was born at the San Diego Zoo in 2011.

The zoo's koala exhibit has been empty since February 2015 following the death of Cobber, a 19-year-old koala who officials say at the time was one of the oldest koalas in the country.

Zoo officials say Milo will eventually be paired with a female koala as part of a breeding program.
