MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins may be close to adding another piece to their defensive line.

Former third overall pick Dion Jordan, who was suspended for the entire 2015 season after failing a third drug test, is preparing to apply for reinstatement.

This news was confirmed by Jordan's agent on Monday.

Upon applying, it will take approximately 30 to 45 days before he would be permitted to return to the Dolphins.

If things follow that timeline, Jordan will be available to join the team for training camp, which begins in late July.

Miami traded up to select Jordan 3rd overall in the 2013 NFL Draft but his contributions to the team have been extremely limited.

Though he's played in 26 games, Jordan has yet to start one and has accumulated just 46 tackles and three sacks.
