MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Barricades are already set up ahead of a weekend where thousands are expected to flock to Miami Beach. On the same day, an investigation is underway into a shooting overnight.

The drive-by shooting happened in front of a pizzeria and it was all caught on tape.

Security video shows a white Toyota pulling up next to a gray Mercedes at 9th Street near Collins Avenue. Seconds later, someone from inside the Toyota fires at least four shots.

"I heard four shots of gunfire at 4:40 this morning – went to the window set up my video camera and saw people scrambling," said business owner Mitch Novick.

He owns the Sherbrooke Hotel across the street from the shooting.

Video shows four people walking out of the pizza place. A man gets into the backseat while one gets into the driver's seat. Two women in white dresses get in the car.

All the while, the white Toyota is parked up the street with the lights off as if it's been watching.

In the video, the driver waits another two minutes before he pulls out of the spot, drives up to the Mercedes and fires. People in the area duck.

The Toyota speeds off making a left into the alley. The Mercedes with the backdoor still open backs up on 9th street into traffic on Collins Avenue and flees the scene.

The victims – a man and a woman - drove themselves to Mercy Hospital and had non-life threatening wounds.

The suspect was caught not too far from the scene minutes after the incident. Police say they recovered a gun and charged Kareem Stuart with drug possession and fleeing police.

Possible charges in the shooting depend on the ballistic results.

At last check, the relationship between the suspect and the victims remained unclear.

Novick says he is fed up with the violence on the beach claiming it's the reason he set up security cameras on his building. He says his business is suffering.

"My business has been affected tremendously. The international travelers know Miami Beach is not safe. They're finding safer destinations to spend their dollars," said Novick.

As police investigate the incident, they will be out in full force in Miami Beach for their legendary Memorial Day weekend festivities.

"I'm just excited to be here because I hear it's crazy so crazy is good sometimes, especially when you're a working professional," said Dan Brown who is visiting from New Jersey.
