Special "Lady" Needs Your Help

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A special lady needs your help.

On May 1st, the non-profit animal rescue group Paws 4 You received call about a stray dog in horrifying condition that was taken to Miami-Dade Animal Services.

The dog, nicknamed Lady, was totally dehydrated with complete loss of skin elasticity, filthy, and infested with fleas.

Lady was critically emaciated with a body condition score of 1 out of 9 - the worst possible case scenario. A severe skin condition has claimed most of her fur, she has mammary and skin tumors along with several fractured, and missing, teeth.

In short, Lady is in need of serious medical treatment, including surgeries but they can't be performed until she is in better condition.

Animal Services estimated her age to be around three years old, but after an exam by a vet the rescue group now believes she's much older.

"She didn't get this way over night. Lady has suffered a lifetime of neglect. It's a wonder that her heart is even still beating," said Paws 4 You's Director Carol Caridad. "It's almost unbearable to think a dog that has lived like this may never know the comfort of a home or the love of a family."

Paws 4 You is asking for donations to help pay for Lady's medical care and looking for someone to adopt her once her condition improves.
