Son Of Dade Police Major Released From Jail

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The son of a Miami-Dade police major who's accused of dealing drugs from his father's home was released from jail.

Tyler Palmer, 20, was placed on house arrest Wednesday.

Following Palmer's release, his attorney Christopher Pagan, issued a statement saying in part,

"Today, Mr. Palmer was ordered released from custody and will be restricted to house arrest while his charges are pending.  To this point, my client has not received preferential treatment by either the court or the State Attorney's Office."

Palmer has pleaded not guilty to several charges including cocaine trafficking, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of hallucinogens and amphetamines.

He was arrested last week following a raid at his home. His father is Major Arnold Palmer, who oversees the Miami-Dade Police Economic Crimes Bureau.
