FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A pair of Florida teens had a close encounter of the Great White kind.

Wylie Phelan and Taylor Magone, both 18, were out fishing for grouper near the Ponce Inlet, just south of Daytona Beach, when they spotted something really big in the water.

"Just a grey shadow coming up on us. You couldn't miss him. A 16 foot shark coming up on you," said Phelan.

"He probably did 20 or so circles around the boat," said Magone.

Magone then grabbed a Go-Pro camera to capture the moment.

"I was just holding the camera and just sticking it in the water so I could get some great shots of him," said Magone.

Phelan said the shark didn't seem threatening.

"He seemed, nice friendly, calm," said Phelan.

"Came right up, was looking right into our eyes, like, it was awesome," said Magone.

The teens say the next time they go out fishing they plan to be on the lookout for their new friend, but it they don't spot it, they'll still have the amazing video.

"I knew if I got like up close and personal, it would honestly be a one in a lifetime shot," said Magone.
