MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Authorities are looking for the gunman that left a 16-year-old girl shot outside of a party in Miami.

It happened after 8:30 p.m. outside of a banquet hall at 18901 S.W. 106th Avenue.

According to investigators, the victim was leaving a party when she saw a group of people fighting in the parking lot.

As she crossed the street, she told police she heard multiple gunshots and immediately collapsed realizing she had been struck.

"We came around the corner and we seen a girl I knew. She was laying in the street. She had got shot in her hip once," said Antwon Glenn, 19, who was also hanging out at the party. "Then, everybody acted like they didn't see it and nobody seen what."

The teenage victim, a student at Killian High, was Glenn's childhood friend and they were attending the party after it was advertised through social media.

A security guard at the plaza said he first mistook the gunfire for fireworks before realizing what it actually was.

"Oh man, it was a lot of shots," said Chris Alberto. "Fast. Like a machine gun."

Dozens of people were at the party but, fortunately, no one else was struck.

"Everybody shooting somebody for no reason," Glenn continued. "It's about nothing. Everybody feels like they can do it out of retaliation because of this what happened and that what happened. Just put the guns down."

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted the victim to Kendall Regional Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS. As always, there's a cash reward involved and you can remain anonymous.
