Miami Gardens Police Dept. Hires New Assistant Chief of Police

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – The Miami Gardens Police Department has a new Assistant Chief of Police.
Cynthia Machanic, with more than 31 years of law enforcement experience, has been named to the post.
Machanic started with the Miami-Dade Police Department as a patrol officer in 1984 but quickly rose through the ranks.
She retired in 2015 at the rank of Lieutenant.
She worked in a variety of departments while at MDPD including the Accreditation Section, Professional Compliance Bureau/Staff Inspections, Internal Affairs, COmmunications Bureau/Operations, Economic Crimes Bureau/Major Fraud Section and Mortgage Fraud Task Force, Airport District Uniform Patrol and Special Patrol Bureau/Police Operations.
"I am ecstatic to have Assistant Chief Machanic join the Miami Gardens Police family and look forward to the continued growth of the agency as a whole," said Chief of Police Antonio Brooklen in an emailed statement.
Assistant Chief Machanic's first day on the job will be April 4th.
