MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Named one of Variety's "10 Actors to Watch" in 2007, Swedish-Canadian actress Malin Akerman has since been tearing up Hollywood with her beauty, charm and acting talents.

In 2012 she turned heads in the comedy "Wanderlust" with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston. She also sang alongside Tom Cruise in the musical adaptation of the Broadway hit "Rock of Ages" which was filmed here in South Florida.

This month she graces the cover of Ocean Drive Magazine. CBS4's Lisa Petrillo caught up with the 37-year old actress at a recent cover party at Wall at W South Beach for Ocean Drive where she told us she's thrilled to be on the cover and back in South Florida.

"We had a pretty fantastic shoot for the magazine and to be here in Miami again is great. I was here shooting Rock of Ages, it feels like home. I spent enough time here to learn to love it, so it's nice to come back and be on the cover of Ocean Drive and celebrate with everyone," Ackerman said.

Malin, who has appeared in such hit films as "27 Dresses" and "Couples Retreat," said she's always fought for her roles and will continue to do so.

"I think there will always be a fight. I think always, when an actress is up against it, she can't ever settle into something. It's such a creative a process, every step, every new process is a growth. You never stop growing in this line of work, which is what I love about it. I think once you stalled, you're done," she explained.

These days you can see Malin on television in the new Showtime series "Billions" where she plays Lara Axelrod, the stunning and stylish wife of a billionaire hedge fund king. The single mother of an almost three year old boy said of her character that despite the perks that kind of money brings, she assumes there's a price to pay personally.

"I do think that there are certain laws that might be broken in order to become that powerful. I don't think everything is done by the books as far as I know," said Akerman. "It depends on what your willing to sacrifice in order to become such a power couple."

You can can catch Akerman on the cover of Ocean Drive magazine now or download the digital verson at oceandrive.com.

"Billions" is on Showtime Sunday nights at 9 p.m.
