CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- Hundreds of South Floridians took part in an annual indoor cycling event raising money and awareness for cancer research and clinical trials.

Cycle for Survival returned to Miami on Saturday for its 10th year, pedaling toward their $100 million goal. With support from founding partner Equinox, every dollar donated goes to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

"It's a national movement to help beat rare cancers," said Manny Rodriguez, a cyclist who credits the organization for helping his sister-in-law beat a rare form of cancer called Ewing's sarcoma. "I believe she's here with us today because of the wonderful care she got at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center."

More than 450 riders got an inspirational, high-energy workout that included heart-pumping music, dancing, tributes and personal stories about the impact Cycle for Survival has had since it got started.

The event is being held nationwide with more than 27,000 participants in 15 cities and with $83 million raised since its inception in 2007, it's recognized as the fastest-growing athletic fundraising event in the nation, according to the Peer-to-Peer Professional Forum.
