Twitter Suspends 125,000 Accounts Linked To ISIS

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Twitter announced that it has suspended 125,000 accounts that are related to the terror group ISIS since the middle of last year.
The social networking site said the accounts promoted terror acts or made threats related to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
In a statement on Friday, Twitter explained the suspensions:
"Like most people around the world, we are horrified by the atrocities perpetrated by extremist groups. We condemn the use of Twitter to promote terrorism and the Twitter Rules make it clear that this type of behavior, or any violent threat, is not permitted on our service."
The company went on to say that they are increasing the size of their teams that review these type of accounts and their efforts appear to be working.
"We have already seen results, including an increase in account suspensions and this type of activity shifting off of Twitter."
Despite increasing their fight, Twitter acknowledged that there isn't a "magic algorithm" in identifying terrorist content on their website.
"In spite of these challenges, we will continue to aggressively enforce our Rules in this area, and engage with authorities and other relevant organizations to find solutions to this critical issue and promote powerful counter-speech narratives."
