MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Hundreds of potentially dangerous fake hoverboards were seized at Port Miami before they could make it store shelves.

About 300 of the self balancing boards, with an approximate retail value of $94,000, were confiscated last Thursday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Customs and Border Protection said the boards, which were made in China, had batteries with counterfeit LG trademark logo.

One of the hottest toys of the 2015 holiday season, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said there's been a spike in hoverboard-related injuries across the country in the last month.
