FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A man accused of killing a Delray Beach woman and her two children has accepted a plea deal rather than stand trial next week and face a possible death penalty.

In court Friday, Clem Beauchamp pleaded guilty to the 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend, 25-year old Felicia Brown, and her two children, 10-year old McNeil and 6-year old Ju'Tyra, according to the Sun-Sentinel. In exchange he was given three life sentences.

In March, 2011, the bodies of the children were found stuffed in luggage in a canal separating Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Prosecutors say the boy was killed by blunt force injuries to head and the girl was killed by asphyxiation.

That discovery helped detectives identify a body they found in West Palm Beach landfill in August 2010 as Brown. The woman had the names Jermaine and Ju'Tyra tattooed on her leg.

In 2009, police found a homemade silencer inside a bag with a knit hat and a Halloween mask which they suspected belonged to Beauchamp. Prosecutors said Brown worried she would take the fall for the gun and the silencer and agreed to cooperate against Beauchamp in the gun case and meet with a federal agent. She disappeared shortly after.
