TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - A North Ft. Myers lawmaker wants to crack down on boaters who anchor or moor overnight in parts of waterways in Miami-Dade, Broward and Okaloosa counties.
State Rep. Matt Caldwell has filed a proposal which would prevent anchoring or mooring from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise in six areas that the bill describes as "recreational boating zones."
Those areas include part of the Middle River in Broward County, Sunset Lake in Miami-Dade County, three sections of Biscayne Bay in Miami-Dade County and Crab Island in Choctawhatchee Bay in Okaloosa County.
The bill will be considered during the legislative session starting January 12th.
