NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- An investigation is underway following a shooting of two teenagers Friday afternoon.

"They was on feet.  No car, no nothing."

That's what a stunned Kim Lowry told her relatives about the two brazen guys who shot her daughter, 15-year-old Shania Lowry.

The guys simply walked by the family's home at 2422 N.W. 57th St. Friday evening with hoodies up and guns in hand.

They fired at Shania and her 16-year-old friend Dayton Davis who were outside.

"All we heard was the gunshots. And I just froze," Kim Lowry said. "She ran. She didn't fall to the ground. She didn't try to jump in the car. She just ran in the house.  And that's when she got shot."

Shot in both legs, Shania is lucky to be alive, but still disappointed as only teenagers can be.

"I'm okay. I'm doing great. God is good.  He helped me tonight," she told CBS4's Donna Rapado. "I was crying because they told me I couldn't compete in my competition Saturday."

This caps months of violence among teenagers across Miami-Dade.

Shania, who goes to a private school, was friends with four Miami Northwestern Senior High students who were shot and killed.

Johnny Lubin was killed earlier in the week as he walked home. Police said he was an innocent bystander.

"The boy yesterday played football and everything. He was doing something with his life. Something positive and now he gone," said Lirondy Wright. "This is real ridiculous – like they need to stop this."

Shania and her mom are staying with family.

Kim Lowry told CBS4 this is a quiet neighborhood but she's had enough. She won't raise her children in this environment.

"This is at my front door. I can't deal with this," she said.
