Major Job Fair At Don Shula's This Week

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Three dozen companies will be looking to fill 2,000 plus positions at a mega job fair in Miami Lakes this week.

It will be held Wednesday, October 14th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Don Shula's Hotel at 6842 Main Street.

The event is sponsored by Benihana, Walmart, and Service Corporation International.

So which companies will be looking to hire?

Benihana is looking to hire hibachi chef trainees, sushi chef trainees, servers, host, managers and prep cooks to work at their Miami Beach, Coral Gables and Miramar locations.

Walmart will be interviewing for store managers, assistant managers and co-managers.

Swissport USA Inc. will be looking to hire fueling agents, cabin cleaners, ramp agents and passenger service agents.

Kent Security is hiring throughout Miami Dade and Broward County. They are looking forward to meeting with candidates with a class D security license who have an interest in the following career opportunities: post captain/director of security, field Inspector, security Officer and service ambassadors.

Bed Bath & Beyond will be conducting on the spot interviews for sales associates, cashiers, receiving, store managers and customer service representatives.

City Furniture has over 25 openings for interior designers, delivery drivers and sales associates.

If you plan to attend, here are some tips to get you ready.

Dress your absolute best. This doesn't mean you have to go out and purchase an expensive outfit, just dress clean cut and professional. Also, update your resume and bring at least 30 copies with you.

It's a good idea to do a little research in advance. Pick a few companies from the list and learn more about them online. The more you know about the company, the more you can converse with them at the event.

Make sure you visit every employer at the event and tell them what type of career you are interested in. If they do not have it available, they might be able to refer you to a company that does

If you have kids, make sure you arrange for a baby sitter. No children will be allowed into the event.

No cell phones will be allowed inside the Career Fair room. And finally, this is South Florida, you may want to bring an umbrella.
