POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A cyclist died early Sunday morning after his bicycle was hit by a minivan Saturday night in Pompano Beach.

The cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and passed away after being transported to Broward Health North.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the cyclist to the hospital.

The bicyclist was traveling northbound on SW 12th Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday night in the single thru lane.

The minivan, a 2000 Honda Odyssey driven by David Hillard, was also traveling northbound in the same lane.
