Woman Shot In Miami Lakes Glad To Be Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - One of two coworkers shot Tuesday morning in in Miami Lakes has been released from the hospital.

Veronica Moss, 54, is recovering at home after being shot in the leg.

"I thought it was going to be a couple of days in the hospital but God is good so I'm home," said Moss.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of an office building at 150th Street and NW 79th Court.

Moss and her coworker Tahkyshia Ross, 21, carpool together and had just parked when a man drove up in a Ford Mustang and shot at them through the window.

"The guy pulled out the gun and started shooting at my coworker. He started leaving, stopped, backed up, and shot at me and struck me in my leg," said Moss.

Moss was shot once, Ross twice, both in the lower extremities.

Within an hour of the shooting, police arrested 26-year old Andrew Seabrooks less than 3 miles away. Seabrooks reportedly crashed his car into a tree then tried to run away, but was chased by officers and taken into custody.

Seabrooks has an extensive criminal history and is now facing a number of new charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

"I've never seen him before in my life," said Moss, who told CBS4 news she does not know why Seabrooks targeted them.

Police have not revealed a motive for the shooting.

As of Wednesday morning, Ross was still recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
