Boy Found In Deplorable Conditions, Mom Charged
APOPKA (CBSMiami/ AP) — A central Florida mother who left her 7-year-old child in a filthy apartment while she went out drinking has been charged.
Jennifer Oyola, of Apopka, was arrested after a neighbor found her son standing outside the apartment building.
Police say the child told officers that he was waiting for his mother to come home from work, but she hadn't shown up.
Police say Oyola, 26, was later found sleeping on a park bench near her apartment. Police say Oyola, who appeared intoxicated, told them she had went out with friends.
Police say inside Oyola's apartment they found cat feces, trash, kitchen knives, and beer bottles.
Oyola has been charged with child cruelty.
