Bond Set For Woman Accused In Botched Penis Procedure

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A judge has set a high bond for a woman who reportedly performed a botched penis enlargement procedure on a Hialeah man.

Nery Carvajal-Gonzalez, 48, is facing one count of unlicensed practice of health care causing serious injury and two counts of practicing medicine without a license. She was picked up earlier this week after getting off a flight at Miami International Airport.

During a hearing Tuesday, the judge ruled that bond would be set at $100,000 and she could be released if she could prove the money used for it came from legitimate sources. If she does bond out, she will be on house arrest.

The man, a 55-year-old hair stylist, said his troubles started when he paid Carvajal-Gonzalez to put an implant in his organ to make it longer and thicker. When the "fillers" began to give him problems, Carvajal-Gonzalez reportedly took the man to a warehouse in Hialeah in February 2015 where she introduced him to "Dr. Mark."

Dr. Mark, it turns out, was Mark Schreiber, 60, of Tamarac, according to police. Years ago, Schreiber worked for Plastic Surgery Art Centre in Boynton Beach.  In August 2008, he pleaded guilty to four felony charges of practicing medicine without a license, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He was given a two sentence plus probation.

During the meeting in the warehouse, the man paid Schreiber $1,000 to remove the implant, according to investigators.

The man said after the procedure, he removed the bandages to find his penis had been mutilated.

"The victim stated that his penis had retracted so far that it protruded less than one inch from his body," according to Schreiber's arrest warrant.

"The victim's penis was now incredibly small, yet very swollen and the skin around the shaft had been removed and was raw," the warrant said.

The man said when he contacted Schreiber two days later, he was reportedly told it was normal and that he should just put sticks on either side of it to keep it straight and then wrap it up in bandages till it heals. The man said after that conversation, he was unable to reach Schreiber again, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

When it did finally heal, the man said he was left with a deformed, one-inch-long penis and unable to have sex.

In August, 2015,  Schreiber was arrested on one count of unlicensed practice of health care causing serious injury. He's currently being held without bond.
