MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Security cameras outside a Miami day care caught a thief snatch a purse from a car while a mother was inside dropping her children off.

A mother had just parked her black sedan outside Ebenezer Day Care, located at 4111 SW 4th St., at around 7:45 a.m. Friday.

Seconds later, a silver four-door – possibly a Dodge Dart – parked next to her as she was entering the day care.

Once the mother was inside, cameras captured a man with dreadlocks – in a black shirt and beige pants – exit the silver sedan, open the black car and rummage through the passenger side.

The thief was then seen hauling away the woman's purse before fleeing west on SW 4th St.

According to the day care, two other moms have had their belongings stolen in the last week.

"It's very dangerous considering this is supposedly a good neighborhood. So when I come to pick up my kids I hurry because I fear someone will break my car's window," said Angel Suarez, whose kids attend the day car.

The day care's director has warned parents to be careful.

And though the day care has cameras, one mother said she still takes her belongings with her.

"I believe they have cameras, but it's not enough," said Maria Antunez. "I have two kids, so I have to take my purse every single time I pick up my son. It's really inconvenient because my baby is 2 years old and she's 7 and I have to watch for both of them."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami Police Department's Burglary Unit at (305) 603-6030 or contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS (8477).
