Report: Amar'e Stoudemire Meeting With Pat Riley

The Miami Heat appears to be considering adding another big-name free agent after coming to verbal agreements with Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic last week.

Pat Riley will meet with unrestricted free agent Amar'e Stoudemire on Thursday, according to Bleacher Report's Jared Zwerling.

The earliest free agents can officially sign is also tomorrow. DeAndre Jordan showed on Wednesday afternoon how things can change during the NBA's moratorium period.

The 32-year-old Stoudemire appeared in 23 games with the Mavericks last season after getting bought out by the Knicks. He averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds on 58-percent shooting but his defense is widely known to be rancid.

SI's Ben Golliver had the following to say of Stoudemire's defensive ineptitude:

"As bad as you might think Stoudemire's defense is, it's worse. On paper, Stoudemire's impressive per-36 numbers make him an intriguing addition for a team with playoff aspirations, In practice, that pretty thought gives way to an uglier reality. Stoudemire's tenure in Dallas saw him produce a -6.2 net rating, the worst of any Mavericks player who played at least 50 minutes."

Miami can do worse than signing Amar'e to the veteran's minimum (if that's the plan) but it will be interesting to see what happens to Chris Andersen and/or Josh McRoberts after it potentially comes into fruition.
