MIAMI (CBSMiami) –  The Miami Police Department responded to accusations of police brutality against a South Florida man.

Brian White's mother said the officers kicked, beat and punched him without provocation during a traffic stop. White was the passenger.

"I did everything that they told me to do. I put my hands up. They took me out of the car and they hit me. I never resisted. I never hit a police officer or pushed them. I did nothing," said White.

According to a police report, officers said White refused to place his hands behind his back and was kicking his legs attempting to strike an officer.

"As what actually took place we have launched an internal investigation and there's not that much that we can say other than we are gathering all the facts and we invite anyone with information that can contribute to the case to call us,"said Kenia Fallat with Miami Police.

White's family is also asking the state attorney to investigate.
