MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Mark has been cooking up authentic homemade food as owner and head chef of Randazzo's for 12 years.

The popular and charming eatery showcases his favorite memorabilia on the wall.  He packs in loyal customers for lunch and dinner daily.  The Godfather plays in the background while diners enjoy a true taste of Italy.

"I like to stick to the classics. I use great ingredients like my grandmother did. I keep it simple, fresh,  I do not over complicate it," the chef explained.

Randazzo's is one of 42 restaurants participating in Coral Gables Restaurant Week, which is actually a month long dining event similar to Miami Spice.

"We have 42 restaurants participating this year. They offer lunch and dinner at fixed prices. They offer 20 percent off regular prices," said Marina Fogia of B.I.D. Coral Gables.

So it was time for  CBS4's Lisa Petrillo to dig in.

First, Mark presented Lisa with his special Italian pork chops, which will be featured on the Coral Gables Restaurant week menu. It was made with garlic, sweet onions cherry peppers white wine and oregano.

"It's seasoned perfectly, it has garlic and juices and veggies. It's delicious and you can have this for lunch or dinner," Petrillo said.

Next up was Randazzo's signature meatball salad.

"It's a melt in your mouth Italian meatball. What's better than that?" Petrillo asked. "It's really tender and delicious."

And finally, a Randazzo favorite—the Snapper Francese with the chef's secret sauce.

"This snapper francese is best I've ever had. It's light lemony fresh and goes down easy . It's the perfect summer light dish," Petrillo said.

Coral Gables Restaurant Week is on now through June 28th.  Randazzo's Little Italy is opened six days a week for lunch and dinner.
