Tropical, Everglades Parks Make Top 100 For Family Fishing

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Ah summer time, the kids are out of school, the weather is great and its time to hit the great outdoors.

If fishing is your thing, there's great news. Everglades National Park and Tropical Park, at 7900 SW 40th Street, have been recognized among the "Top 100 Family Fishing and Boating Spots in America" by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation's (RBFF).

The award is the result of the "2015 America's Top Family Fishing and Boating Spots Sweepstakes" in which more than 23,000 people were asked to cast their vote for 276 pre-selected parks.

Criteria for the top places to fish and boat included having a public body of water within an hour of a major city with good fishing opportunities and family-friendly amenities.

The release of Take Me Fishing's Top 100 list was timed to kick off the National Fishing and Boating Week, which kicked off on Saturday, June 6th and runs through June 14th.

Other Florida parks making it into the Top 100 were Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys, Blue Springs State Park in Volusia County, Kissimmee State Park, Lake Talquin State Park just west of Tallahassee and Skyway Fishing Pier State Park on Tampa Bay.
