FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Broward County Animal Care is asking for the community's help to save lives this weekend.

"We need the community's help to save lives, whether it is by adopting or rescuing a shelter pet," said Lisa Mendheim, public education coordinator, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.

The group is waiving adoption fees for kittens and cats for the entire month of June.

And for the dog lovers, the center will host "Name Your Price" adoptions at the center located at 1870 SW 39th Street on Saturdays  and Sundays through June 14th.

The move comes as the center has seen an increase in the number of dogs and especially cats entering the shelter, needing a forever home.

"We are currently faced with a high influx of pets who are in need of a home," said Mendheim.
