FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A former Broward substitute teacher is facing new charges in connection with a growing sex scandal.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Carlos Rojas Paz had sex with underage girls at Boyd Anderson High School where he was a substitute teacher and athletic trainer.

Last week a 16-year-old student accused him of carrying on a yearlong relationship.

Now a 17-year-old student gave a statement to Sunrise Police in which she claimed that on at least five occasions the two had sexual encounters inside his classroom at the high school.

According to an arrest affidavit the girl felt "too ashamed" to tell anyone about the relationship.

She told investigators that Rojas Paz told her to say she "was 18 and a nursing student" if anyone questioned her.

Rojas Pazs' attorney, Sean Conway, says he intends to plead not guilty.

Conway says it's early on in the case and there are no eyewitnesses or physical evidence to support the allegations.

He says Rojas Paz has no prior criminal history and he is filing papers to get a hearing to have his $730,000 bond reduced.
