HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) – Homestead Police passed out flyers on Thursday in search of man they said tried to abduct a child after school.
Police said a man in a gray, older model Nissan Altima approached a 12 year old who was waiting for his mother at Miami Arts Charter School on the afternoon of May 15th.
“He sat down and waits for me and he said he was approached by a man,” said the boy’s mother who didn’t want to reveal her identity.
The driver told the child, “Hey kid your mom wants me to come pick you up.”
The child told the driver he was going to have to call his mother to check.
“He said, ‘Mom there’s a strange man here.’ He was very calm until I told him he needed to get someone immediately and then of course he started to freak out,” said the boy’s mother.
That’s when the man sped off.
The child later called his mother and notified school staff.
Officers said they are looking for a white man between the ages of 45 to 55, heavy set, with medium to long gray hair and moles or spots all over his face. He also has varicose veins on his arms and wrinkles near his eyes.
He was wearing a black baseball cap and dark sunglasses at the time of the incident.
As for the car, police said they are looking for a 1992 or 1993 Nissan Altima with dark tints, rust on the bottom passenger side, chipping paint and bumper damage.
“My hope is that they can apprehend this person because this was in broad daylight at a school not too many people know about in the community and to me this is something that this person’s probably done before that this person is going to do again,” said the boy’s mother.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
