MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Standardized testing was in a state of disarray throughout the 2014-2015 school year in Florida. Now another issue has led the state to eliminate the requirement of some math assessments from the final course grades.

According to a post on Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho's Facebook page, the state sited the "lack of independently verified statewide assessment results in Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry."

The decision to exclude these categories means school districts will calculate final course grades and make promotion decisions without regard to the 30 percent statutory requirement.

The state does allow the option for districts to recalculate course grades when scores are available.

Carvalho stated he will now participate in recalculation because he trusts his teachers' judgement and "students need to be appropriately scheduled for the 2015-2016 school year."

The 30 percent requirement still applies for EOC results in Biology I, U.S. History and Civics. Those results will be released in June.
