Phillips: 'Have a Lot of People I Need to Prove Wrong'

Interviews-wqam

Second-round draft pick Jordan Phillips has much to prove early on his career with the Miami Dolphins. Many considered the defensive tackle out of Oklahoma as a first-round talent but that he dropped due to concerns over his work ethic.

Phillips joined the Big O Show on 560 WQAM to talk about rookie camp and how he's going to erase the doubters.

"I gave that perception but personally I don't believe that's true," Phillips said of the criticism of his work ethic. "If the people actually understood our system and understood what we were doing in our defense they would understand I was the best person doing it. But I do need to work harder and make more plays. I have a lot of people I need to prove wrong and that's what I'm gonna do."

Now listed at 6-foot-5 and 329 pounds, Phillips also played wideout, running back, and tight end in high school. So what position does he miss most?

"Probably wide receiver," he said. "It was a lot of fun, especially being that big out there, making people look bad. It was fun."
